“w.a.m.s.” (stylized in all lower case letters) has a electronic/funky sound due to it being produced by The Neptunes, made up by rappers Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. The songs “w.a.m.s.” and “Tiffany Blews” sound very different from each other, but have very distinct qualities. Listen towards the end for a short melody of some of Fall Out Boy’s older songs by the aforementioned guests. Featuring vocals by performers such as Panic! at the Disco’s Brendon Urie, Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy and even Elvis Costello, it sticks out as one of the best songs on the album. It has the distinction of being both the band’s first ballad and the track with the most guest vocals. Skipping around, the song “What a Catch, Donnie” seems to be one of the favorites amongst Fall Out Boy fans and non-Fall Out Boy fans alike. And boy, do I wish I could say that line and mean it. The line “I don’t care what you think/As long as it’s about me” seems to be the message the band wants to convey. This one is truly a rockin’ tune with a meaning that represents the band very well. “I Don’t Care” is the next track and the band’s first single off this album. Like most of Fall Out Boy’s songs, the meaning is hard to decipher. The sound of a pipe organ leading into the heavy guitar riffs of Stump and Joseph Trohman works really well with bassist, Pete Wentz’s lyrical content. The first listed song is the creatively named “Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes” (Yes, a Flintstones reference).

Patrick Stump’s voice is full of soul, and with this song, it also seems to have the ability to put you to sleep… in a good way. Simply entitled “Lullabye,” it is just that a lullaby. What this means is, if you rewind the very first track, you can hear a completely different track! And it is a good track. “Folie à Deux” is an interesting album in that it has a hidden pre-gap track. Now, enough about the case, let’s get to the music. The liner notes give no insight to this, but it certainly gets your attention. The interesting thing is, every word is backwards. Luke Chueh is the artist behind the image, which seems to fit the title of the album that translates literally to “The Shared Madness of Two.” On the back we see a listing of the 13 songs on the album (Technically 14, but more on that later). On the front, we have a wonderfully drawn image of a young man in a bear suit carrying an actual bear on his back. The first thing that sticks out about the album is the case itself. I know it’s way late, but I did want to put in my two cents on Fall Out Boy’s most recent studio album, “Folie à Deux.”
